How often will I get homework? |
- Homework is primarily any unfinished class work. If you do not maximize your time in class, it is likely you will have more homework than others.
- Some assignments are assigned for additional homework at the teacher's discretion. These will be announced at the beginning of each week.
Can I turn in late work?
- Yes; however there is a penalty for turning in work past the original due date.
- All late work is worth 50% credit regardless of how late it is.
- The cut off to turn late work in the last day in that month that the original assignment was given. (For example, if the assignment was a worksheet that assigned on March 7th, the late work is due by March 31st). After the month passes, late work will not be accepted.
- Students MUST fill out a late slip in order to get late credit.
What happens if I leave my Chromebook at home or I forgot to charge it?
You can borrow a classroom Chromebook up to 3 times each trimester. After that, a parent phone call will be made to discuss why the student is not prepared for school.
What if I was absent from class?
- Even though students might be absent from class, it is still their responsibility to check with their classmates and teacher to see what we did that day. Students need to talk to Ms. Dean at lunch or after school. Passing periods or the beginning of class are not good times to discuss what you missed.
- CHECK YOUR AGENDA from each Monday. Students copy down classwork and homework each week and know what is being done if they are absent.
- Also, there is an ABSENT folder located in the student center. If we did any worksheets the day you were absent, they will be in there. If the work we did was digital, check Google Classroom or StudySync. Absent work is due 1 day after the student returns.
What can I do to raise my grade?
- Doing both your classwork and homework on time will help to ensure a passing grade. Unfortunately, there is no extra credit "work" that will be given out.
- There will be 2-3 extra credit opportunities each year, but do not rely on this in order to pass ELA class.
- Also, coming to lunch tutoring can improve your grade as well.
What is mandatory tutoring?
- At each progress report hexmester, students who are currently earning a grade of a C- or lower will be in mandatory lunch tutoring with Ms. Dean every day until they improve their grade.
- Students will be notified if they are to receive mandatory tutoring.
Can I retake a test?
- Tests are not usually re-given, but Ms, Dean can make certain exceptions.
- If you feel that something impacted your grade negatively, please talk with Ms. Dean ASAP!
- Studying each night a few days before a test will help to ensure a passing test grade.
